A Brief introduction of kerala state.
Krala state is the one of the four southern states of India.The state has the literecyrate in the country @100%.The people areproud, hard working and determined to succeed inspite of any circumstances.The major launguage, here is MALAYALAM , whileENGLISH is also widely spoken.The main religion is HINDU.Otherminority religions such as ISLAM , CHRISTIANITY are also found in the state.
DISTRICT.
1. THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:- Thiruvananthapuram alsoknown as Trivandrum and is the state capital today.Sreepadmanabha Temple, the zoo , The Art gallery, planetarium and Shankummukhambeach are worth a visit in the district.
KOVALAM. This is an attractive beach in Kerala state . Many offorigners visit daily in the place shallow atters for swimming and longstreches of sand are the major features here. Distence is the 18kmfrom Trivandrum central.
CHOWARA BEACH.9km south of the Kovalam beach, this beach has heritage and ayurvedic resorts.VELI TOURIST VILLAGE.This popular picnic spot is built at a point where the Veli Lagoon meets the Arabian Sea.
PONMUDI.This is a hill resort offering great oppertunities for trekking . It is located at an altitude of around 915 m above sea level.
ARUVIKARA :-The city gets its watter supplly from Aruvikara . The reservoir and garden here are good picnic spot for visitors.
AGASTHYARKOODAM:-About 1869 mtrs above sea level Agasthyar koodam is a prominent peack of the western Ghats.A piligrim center of the hindus , the place is also noted for its Ayurveda herbs.
ANJUTHENGU:-Situated along the sea coast Anjuthengu is a place of historical importance .It was here that the first settlement of the English East-India company was established in 1864AD.40 km distence from Tivandrum
NEYYARDAM AND WILEDLIFE SAUNCTUARY:- The lake here has a dam .Boating is available here . Elephants live in the forest around the resorvoir.On the upper reaches of the neyyar reservoir there are two magnificiant watterfalls .After trek of two km Meenmutty waterfalls and after another two km are Kombaikani watterfalls.
Varkala :-One of the best Beach resort in kerala state .Other interesting places nearby are Janardhana Swami Temple and Siva Giri.
